Letter to You is the upcoming twentieth studio album by Bruce Springsteen and marks his first time performing with the E Street Band since The River Tour 2016. It is also the seventh Springsteen-related album to be produced by Ron Aniello.

Background

Letter to You was written in April-May 2019[2] and recorded sometime in late 2019 at Springsteen's Colts Neck, New Jersey home, over the course of five days. The album was recorded live in studio, with no overdubs, and features three tracks that were originally written prior to Springsteen's 1973 debut album, Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J.: "If I Was the Priest", "Janey Needs a Shooter", and "Song for Orphans", in addition to nine new songs. Springsteen was pleased with the outcome, calling the live studio performance "one of the greatest recording experiences I’ve ever had."[3]

The album was announced on September 10, 2020, with a music video for the album's lead single (and title track) released simultaneously.[3] A tour for the album was also in the works, but has been put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic.[4]
